Wild strawberries may be small, but they have a unique fragrance and sweetness. They symbolize pure and unexpected beauty —like the carefree days of childhood, the gentle reflections of old age, or the little surprises found on a journey. In European culture, wild strawberries are sometimes associated with humility and contentment. Unlike cultivated strawberries, which are large and eye-catching, wild strawberries grow freely in forests and meadows, appearing naturally without being sought after. Their beauty lies in their quiet presence. Just like in Coorte’s painting, the wild strawberries rest silently on the stone surface. They do not try to attract attention, nor do they hide.
